TOWN OF SPIDER LAKE, SAWYER CO., WI
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING – APRIL 18, 2017
The Town of Spider Lake Annual Town meeting of the Electors was called to order by Town Chair Hucker at 6:00 PM. Twelve electors, which included six elected officials, were present. Supervisor Huot was absent.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes of the Annual Town meeting held on 4-19-16 were reviewed. Motion was made by Kay Hucker and 2nd by Dolores Brandt to approve the minutes. All in favor. Motion carried. 12 aye votes and no nay votes.
The 2016 financial report that was distributed to the electors was reviewed. Hucker noted that revenues and expenditures were in line with what the board expected.
Hucker asked if any of the electors had any questions. Charlie Brandt stated that the outside of the town hall needs sprucing up. Cerman advised that the sand and pine cones have been removed from the parking lot. The sand has been removed from the roads on the east side of town. Road bans have been lifted.
Hucker reported that there has been no word from the DNR regarding the 2017 firewise and chipping grants.
Hucker reported that the Landing Camp boat access will be rebuilt by the DNR this summer. It will be closed for four to eight weeks probably from mid-August to mid-September.
Hucker reported that there has been no further information from Century Link regarding when the fiber optic that is currently being installed will be operational. Discussion was held.
Jim Nickel complimented the road crew on the nice job that they do.
Hucker reported on the status of the roads damaged by the summer storms. FR 622 is the subject of a grant in the amount of $180,000.00. Hopefully the grant will be approved and the funds received. The Forest Service took a tour of the town roads to review all the culverts that need replacing including the culvert on Upper A. One culvert on Upper A has been replaced and can now be blacktopped. The town has received some funds from the forest service for the work that road crew completed after the storms. Additional fund requests that have been submitted have not yet been received from FEMA.
Charlie Brandt stated that he has heard that ATV’s are now being allowed to ride on town roads. Hucker advised him that ATV’s are allowed on town roads only where the town’s ordinance allows it. The town currently allows ATV’s on town roads on a limited basis for certain connectors.
Motion to adjourn was made by Dolores Brandt and 2nd by Jerry Ferda. All in favor. Motion carried.
