10-20-16 – Budget Workshop Meeting Minutes

OCTOBER 20, 2016

The Town of Spider Lake Budget Workshop meeting was called to order by Town Chair Hucker at 4:00 PM. Present were Hucker, Brandt, McGuiness, Cerman, Huot, Clerk Ferda and Treasurer Overman. Fire Chief Nelson was absent.

The complete 2017 budget compiled to date was reviewed by the Board and changed where necessary. Committees have made recommendations for salary increases for the road crew (2.5%) and solid waste attendant and town hall janitor at $0.25 per hour. Hucker also proposed a salary increase for the zoning administrator. With an application of $101,385.00 from surplus, the proposed 2016 levy needed to balance the 2017 budget is $264,477.00 which is the maximum levy allowed by the state for 2016.

Motion was made by Huot and 2nd by Brandt to approve the proposed 2017 budget as amended at this budget workshop. All in favor. Motion carried.

The board did not convene an executive session.

Item #4 on the agenda (possible action by the town board to adopt a resolution supporting a percentage increase in the allowable 2016 levy) was not acted upon as the 2016 levy does not need to be increased beyond what is proposed to balance the 2017 budget.

Motion was made by Brandt and 2nd by Huot to accept a quote from Monroe Trucking in the amount of $16,260.00 for new spreader/sanders and to authorize Hucker to sign the on behalf of the board. All in favor. Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn was made by Huot and Brandt. All in favor. Motion carried.
