• Summer – (May 15 to October 15) Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays.

Recyclable Items - Does & Do nots

Household waste fees are $4.00 per bag (up to 33 gallon). Bags larger than 33 gallons may be subject to an extra charge of $2.00.

Recycling Procedures: Recycling is free of charge.

Plastic, tin cans, glass, newspaper and magazines can be commingled in one container.  Cardboard has a separate container and aluminum cans are collected a fenced in area, and the proceeds from their sale goes to the Fire Dept.

PLASTICS: Rinse clean, remove caps and flatten no need to remove labels.  Plastics #1, #2, and #5 are accepted.  Not accepted are automotive product bottles regardless of their recycling # (examples are oil, antifreeze, windshield fluid), Styrofoam, plastic trays, pots from plants and flowers, salt, top soil and grocery bags, plastic packaging, straws, food wrappers , to go lids and toys. ALL BAGS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

ALUMINUM CANS: Rise cans clean, also accepted are clean pie pans etc. Scrap aluminum is not accepted but can be placed in the scrap metal container.

TIN CANS: Rinse cans clean of all food scraps and flatten.

single-sort_recyclingGLASS: Clear, brown and green glass from food or beverage containers only, remove caps, rinse container clean and remove loose foil. Not accepted are clay pots, ceramics, drinking glasses, dishes, light bulbs, headlights, window glass, ovenware, mirrors and crystal.

MIXED PAPER: Includes newspapers, magazines, flyers, copy paper, catalogs, paper grocery bags and junk mail. Not accepted are tissue, hardback books, wax coated ice cream containers and egg cartons.

CARDBOARD and BOXBOARD (cereal boxes):  Must be flattened.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED: Aerosol cans, rubber products, fabrics, wood, greasy food containers and paint/chemical containers.

NOTE: State and Town regulations require that the above materials be recycled. Penalties exist for failure to comply.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Recycled materials must be clean or it belongs with the solid waste. Please note the above changes to what can be recycled.

Only scrap metal is accepted year around, all others are only accepted May 15th through October 15th. There is a fee for electronics and large items. *See separate fee schedule.

Appliances – without refrigerant $15.00 / with refrigerant – $20.00
Items with wood are not accepted unless removed.

Large items with Fee:
air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, dryers, freezers, ice makers small, refrigerators, stoves, washers, water heaters

Place in scrap metal dumpster:
 All things metal, alternators, chain saws, electric motors, engines-small generators, lawn mowers, microwaves, outboard motors, pots and pans, radiators, small appliances, snow blowers, tools-electric, vacuum cleaners, vehicle rims, welders

NOTE any item containing wood and 20 pound LP tanks (unless all valves are removed) are not accepted.
